Hamilton Boulevard in Sioux City closed March 1 – 4 for bridge removal

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Feb. 18, 2019 – A project to remove the southbound Interstate 29 bridge over Hamilton Boulevard in Sioux City will require closing Hamilton Boulevard to traffic beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, March 1, until 6 a.m. Monday, March 4, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 3 Office.

All ramps at the Hamilton Boulevard interchange will remain open during this project. Separate detour routes will be in place for traffic on north- and southbound Hamilton Boulevard (northbound detour map) and (southbound detour map).

Knife River Midwest, LLC. was awarded the $21 million-dollar road construction project.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
