Intermittent lane closures on U.S. 63 in Waterloo begin Monday, April 1
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – March 27, 2019 – Remaining work on the U.S. 63 reconstruction project from Jefferson to Franklin streets in Waterloo requires setting up intermittent lane closures in both the north- and southbound lanes beginning at 8 a.m. this Monday, April 1, until early May, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
Work this spring includes completing the remaining sidewalk, and installing brick pavers, retaining walls, and sod. At least two lanes of traffic will be maintained in both directions.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
