Lane restrictions on Iowa 51 in Allamakee County begin Monday, April 29
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – April 22, 2019 – A bridge deck overlay project on the Iowa 51 bridge over the Yellow River, four miles north of the junction with U.S. 18 in Allamakee County will require reducing the roadway to a single lane beginning at 6 a.m. this Monday, April 29, until late August, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
A single lane of traffic will be in place, controlled by temporary overhead traffic signals. There will be an 11-foot-1-inch lane-width restriction in place during this project.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
