GRIMES, Iowa – June 14, 2019 – The first stage of a project to reconstruct the interchange at Iowa 415 and 66th Avenue near Saylorville will require a road closure next week, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office.
Repair work on a pavement bump will cause the closure of Second Avenue from Interstate 35/80 to Oralabor Road on Monday, June 17, from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.
A detour will be established during the closure of Second Avenue. Traffic will be directed around the construction site along I-35/80, NE 14th Street, and Oralabor Road. Digital message signs will be used to identify the detour. Motorists on Iowa 415 are asked to observe warning messages on electronic signs and be alert for any traffic backups that may occur.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
