IOWA 92 CLOSED AT THE UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD CROSSING IN OSKALOOSA BEGINNING SEPT. 9
CHARITON, Iowa – Aug. 27, 2019 – Repairs at the Union Pacific Railroad crossing on Iowa 92 in Oskaloosa will require closing the roadway to traffic from 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, until Saturday morning, Sept. 14, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Chariton construction office.
Motorists will be directed to use an official off-site detour (see map). The 6.4-mile marked detour will follow U.S. 63 and Iowa 163. It is anticipated the detour will be in place for approximately six days, weather permitting. Local traffic will have access to Iowa Highway 92 except for the lanes at the railroad crossing (near Iowa 92 mile marker 180.53).
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
