Temporary closures on Broadway Avenue/Northeast 46th Avenue at I-235 in Des Moines begin Oct. 2
GRIMES, Iowa – Sept. 27, 2019 – Work to repair the beams on the Interstate 235 bridge over Broadway Avenue/NE 46th Avenue requires closing Broadway Avenue/NE 46th Avenue to traffic beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, until 10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office.
The right lane of northbound I-235 at Broadway Avenue/NE 46th Avenue will also be closed from 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, until 10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6.
Broadway Avenue/NE 46th Avenue will close again from 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 until 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17.
During this project, motorists can follow a marked detour route (see map).
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
