Illinois 9 bridge at Niota to close Nov. 3

NIOTA, Illinois – Oct. 29, 2019 – The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that the bridge that carriers Illinois 9 across the Mississippi River at Niota will close to all traffic – including emergency vehicles – Sunday, Nov. 3.

The closures are necessary to make repairs to the bridge and are planned from 6 to 11 a.m. A marked detour for Iowa-bound traffic utilizing Illinois 96 south to U.S. 136 at Hamilton will be posted.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, remain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
