NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Nov. 8, 2019 – Work to prepare for the opening of the new Iowa 58 and Viking Road interchange in Cedar Falls will require closing Iowa 58 at Greenhill Road and Ridgeway Avenue and also closing Viking Road at Andrea Drive and Nordic Drive beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday night, Nov. 9, until 9 a.m. Sunday morning, Nov. 10, weather permitting, according to Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, the new Iowa 58 and Viking Road interchange will be open to traffic for the first time. Travelers in the area may notice a few lane closures in the upcoming weeks as the contractor finishes detail work on the project.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
