Proposed improvements to Interstate 29 in Woodbury County to be discussed February 27 in Sergeant Bluff

AMES, Iowa – Feb. 17, 2020 – The Iowa Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing Thursday, February 27, between 4 and 6 p.m. at the Sergeant Bluff Community Center, 903 Topaz Dr., in Sergeant Bluff.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the proposed I-29 interchange approximately 2.5 miles South of the Woodbury County Road D-38 interchange at Sergeant Bluff. The Iowa DOT would like to gather public feedback on the environmental documentation, preferred alternative, and potential impacts related to the planned improvements.

The environmental assessment is now available to review at the Sergeant Bluff Public Library, 401 4th St., in Sergeant Bluff and will be available for review during the public hearing or online at

The public hearing will be conducted using a combined open forum and formal format.

During the open forum, from 4 to 4:45 p.m., Iowa DOT staff will be present to informally discuss the project. After the open forum, a formal presentation will be displayed beginning at 4:45 p.m. and followed by a question-and-answer session.

Persons wishing to make a formal statement or ask questions will need to note that at the time of registration. There will be a three-minute limit per speaker during the question-and-answer session. Oral and written statements will be accepted during both the open forum and the formal session.
