Lane closures on U.S. 20 in Buchanan County begin Monday, March 30

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – March 26, 2020 – A hot-mix asphalt paving project on U.S. 20 in Buchanan County requires reducing traffic to one lane in each direction between Buchanan County Road V-65 (exit 245) near Jesup and 20th Avenue Southwest (exit 252) near Independence, beginning Monday, March 30 until Monday, Aug. 31, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
