Road and shoulder closures on Iowa 202 near Moulton in Appanoose County to begin Monday, June 8
CHARITON, Iowa – June 5, 2020 – A culvert replacement project on Iowa 202 near Moulton in Appanoose County requires road and shoulder closures beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, June 8, until Monday, July 6, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Chariton construction office.
Replacement of the culvert located near the intersection of Iowa 202 and 560th Street (mile marker 6.39), just south of Moulton, will require closing the road to traffic. Closure of the road shoulders will be required for replacement of the culvert located near the intersection of Iowa 202 and 582nd Street (mile marker 3.69), about 3.5 miles south of Moulton.
Reilly Construction Company of Ossian is the prime contractor for this project.
Motorists will be directed to use an official off-site detour (see map). The 26.5-mile marked detour will follow Iowa 2, U.S. 63, and Missouri 202. The detour will be in place for approximately a month, weather permitting. Local traffic will have access to Iowa 202 except for the lanes crossing the project area near the intersection of Iowa 202 and 560th Street.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
