Iowa DOT auction August 8
AMES, Iowa – July 31, 2020 – A public auction of state-owned vehicles and equipment will be held by the Iowa Department of Transportation on its grounds in Ames, Saturday, Aug. 8, beginning at 9 a.m. Due to COVID-19 health and safety concerns the sale will be held outside in the auction building parking lot west of the Iowa DOT's sign shop on South Fourth Street in Ames.
Passenger vehicles to be sold include sedans, pickup trucks, sport utility vehicles, and minivans, as well as snowplow trucks, trailers, and a loader plus more will be part of the auction.
Due to COVID-19 and health and safety concerns for customer safety, there will be no inspection of equipment items prior to the sale.
Also due to COVID-19 health and safety concerns, we expect all participants to practice social distancing and wear a face mask whenever 6-foot distance can not be maintained. We will provide face masks for those that do not have one.
We ask that you not attend the auction if you have been sick, have any COVID-19 symptoms, a fever of 100.4 or above, been outside of the United States or have been in contact with anyone that has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
We have updated many procedures and processes for the auction with customer safety and social distancing in mind and will have extra portable restrooms, hand wash and disinfectant stations.
Please let our staff know if you have questions or safety concerns on the day of the auction.
Please bring a driver’s license or state-issued identification card with you to the sale. The information from your driver’s license will be scanned into the system and a bid number will be printed and issued to you for use at the auction. For those without a driver’s license, information can be entered manually.
Final payment for all items is due the day of the sale. Payment for the items must be made in cash, cashier's check, or certified check. Personal or company checks will be accepted if accompanied by satisfactory identification. Sales tax will be collected. Dealers must provide tax-exemption numbers to be exempted from the tax.
