Pavement marking work will close Iowa 58/Viking Road In Waterloo overnight Tuesday July 7

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – July 2, 2020 – Work is nearing completion on Iowa 58 and Viking Road in Waterloo according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

To allow crews to paint new and refresh existing pavement markings, Iowa 58 will be closed between Ridgeway Avenue and Greenhill Road and Viking Avenue will be closed between Nordic Drive and Andrea Road starting at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7. The project and road closure is expected to take up to five hours, weather permitting. If the weather does not allow for the paint crew’s work, the project will be done Wednesday, July 8 beginning at 10:30 p.m.

During the closure, Iowa 58 traffic will be detoured to Hudson Road.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
