MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – July 28, 2020 – A bridge repair project on westbound Interstate 80 at the Iowa 21 interchange (exit 201) in Poweshiek County will require closing the on ramp to traffic. No re-entry will be allowed for traffic exiting westbound I-80 at this interchange. The closure is anticipated to begin at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, until late September, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Marshalltown construction office.
Portable message signs will be placed on Iowa 21 prior to construction to provide updates about the ramp closure. During this closure, traffic will be detoured around the work zone (see map) using eastbound I-80, the Iowa County Road V-38 interchange (exit 205), and westbound I-80.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
