Iowa DOT News Release

Traffic pattern changes now in place on northbound I-235 and northbound I-35 at the Northeast Mix Master

Posted on: September 23, 2020

GRIMES, Iowa – Sept. 23, 2020 – Earlier this week construction crews closed the right lane of northbound Interstate 235 at the Northeast Mix Master to make room for ramp traffic coming onto northbound I-35 and improve the safety of the area. The shift to the north of the Northeast Mix Master is in place so the contractor can repair the bridge approaches on the northbound I-35 bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad. Once the outside portion of the bridge approach is repaired, traffic will be shifted to the outside lane for the rest of the approach to be completed.

This is a two-stage project and is ongoing until November 2020, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
