Reconstruction of east/westbound U.S. 20 from U.S. 63 to Iowa 21 in Waterloo begins Monday, March 29
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – March 25, 2021 – A reconstruction project on east/westbound U.S 20 from U.S. 63 to Iowa 21 in Waterloo will require inside lane closures in both directions beginning on Monday, March 29, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office. This will allow the contractor to start patching work on the westbound side of U.S. 20 as well as construction of a crossover.
Message boards will be in place to provide traffic advanced notice of this work. This portion of the project is expected to be completed by mid-April, with the entire project expected to be completed by mid-November, weather permitting.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
