Iowa 9 near Grafton to close Wednesday, May 5 for culvert replacement project

MASON CITY, Iowa – April 29, 2021 – A project to replace a culvert on Iowa 9, 0.5 miles east of Worth County Road S-62 near Grafton, requires closing the roadway to traffic beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, until Tuesday, May 18, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mason City construction office.

During this project, motorists will be detoured around the work zone by traveling north on Worth County Road S-62/Warbler Avenue for approximately 3 miles, east on 390th Street for 3 miles, south on Worth County Road S-70/Balsam Avenue for 3 miles, and then back onto Iowa 9.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
