Lane restrictions on U.S. 151 in Fairfax begin Monday, May 10

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – April 28, 2021 – A road construction project on U.S. 151 in Fairfax will require lane restrictions beginning on Monday, May 10, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cedar Rapids construction office.

During this project, U.S. 151 will be restricted to a single lane from Church Street to Stallman Drive and maintained with traffic control signals for a period of approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes whenever possible. Construction equipment will be entering and exiting the work zone, so please stay alert and avoid distractions while driving.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
