Posted on: May 06, 2021

FAIRFIELD, Iowa – May 6, 2021 – Nighttime construction work to remove the Fillmore Street bridge over Interstate 35 in Warren County will require closing north- and southbound I-35 for up to two nights per direction from the junction with Iowa 92 (exit 56) to the junction with Iowa 5 (exit 68) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly from Monday, May 17, through Thursday, May 20, weather permitting according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Chariton construction office.

During this nighttime closure, traffic will be guided around the work zone by digital message boards and a marked detour using Iowa 5, Iowa 28 and Iowa 92 (see map).

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
