GRIMES, Iowa – July 16, 2021 – Bridge deck repairs on the railroad bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad on southbound Interstate 35 at mile marker 88.3 in Ankeny which required closing the on-ramp from Southeast Corporate Woods Drive to southbound I-35 and the inside lane of southbound I-35 have been delayed due to weather events but will reopen to traffic on Friday, July 30, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office.
During the Southeast Corporate Woods Drive on-ramp closure at southbound I-35, motorists will follow a marked detour route by taking the Southeast Corporate Woods Drive on-ramp to northbound I-35, exit at Southeast Oralabor Road, travel on Southeast Oralabor Road and then onto southbound I-35 (see map). The right two right lanes over the railroad bridge will be open to traffic. The far inside lane will be open to traffic from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily but closed at night and on the weekends.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
