Lane closure on the Iowa 3 bridge over Otter Creek in Fayette County begins Monday, Aug. 16

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Aug. 12, 2021 – A bridge deck overlay project on Iowa 3 over Otter Creek, 2.4 miles west of the west junction with Iowa 150 in Fayette County will require lane closures beginning on Monday, Aug. 16, until mid-October, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

During this project, traffic in the work zone will be maintained with temporary traffic signals. During the first stage of the project, there will be a 12-foot-6-inch lane-width restriction in place. An 11-foot lane-width restriction will be in place during the second stage of the project until work is completed.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
