Ramp closures in Black Hawk and Bremer counties begin Sunday, Aug. 15


NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Aug. 12, 2021 – Bridge approach resurfacing at several locations in Black Hawk and Bremer counties will include lane and ramp closures beginning on Sunday night, Aug. 15, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.  

Scheduled ramp and lane closures:

U.S. 218/Iowa 27/Iowa 58 in Cedar Falls

U.S. 63 bypass in Denver

  • Bridge approach work over a small stream in Bremer County. Traffic will be maintained with lane closures.

Southbound Iowa 58/Iowa 27 exit ramp to University Avenue in Cedar Falls

  • Overnight ramp closure, weather permitting. The marked detour route will use the next interchange two miles south at Viking Road.

Southbound U.S. 218/Iowa 27 exit ramp to Iowa 57

  • Daytime ramp closures will occur for up to two days. The marked detour route will use the next interchange two miles south at Waterloo Road.

U.S. 218 to Iowa 58/Iowa 27 flyover bridge

  • No detours at this location but lane closures will be used throughout the work area.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
