Iowa 281 over Poyner Creek near Elk Run Heights to close Thursday, Sept. 30 for pavement patching


NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Sept. 29, 2021 – A concrete pavement patching project on Iowa 281 over Poyner Creek, 2.3 miles north of Black Hawk County Road D-20, requires closing the roadway to traffic beginning on Thursday, Sept. 30 until the end of October, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.  

During this project, motorists will be detoured around the construction zone by using Black Hawk County roads C-66 and V-49.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
