Temporary closure of Story County Road E-57 at U.S. 69 south of Ames begins today

JEFFERSON, Iowa – Aug. 2, 2022 – Grading and paving work for construction of offset turn lanes at the intersection of U.S. 69 and Story County Road E-57 south of Ames will require closure of Story County Road E-57 west of U.S. 69 beginning on Tuesday Aug. 2, until Friday, Sept. 9, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Jefferson construction office. Construction crews will begin shifting traffic on U.S. 69 near the work zone on Wednesday, Aug. 3.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
