Iowa 57 east of Parkersburg temporarily closed starting Monday, May 8

MASON CITY, Iowa – May 4, 2023 – If you are driving on Iowa 57 in the coming weeks you may notice some construction work taking place east of Parkersburg.

Beginning on Monday, May 8 until July 2023, weather permitting, construction crews will start the process of removing and replacing a culvert under the roadway. Crews will need to close Iowa 57 2.1 miles east of the east junction with Iowa 14.

Motorists will be directed around the work zone with a marked detour route using Grundy County roads T-55, D-17, and T-19, and Iowa 14. This detour will also accommodate the current road construction project west of Parkersburg.

Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
