Portions of I-80 in Iowa and Johnson Counties Impassable

AMES, Iowa – January 12, 2024 – I-80 west of the I-80/380 interchange in the Iowa City area to the west end of Iowa County, near Victor is impassable in both directions due to drifting, icy conditions, and crashed vehicles. You will not be able to travel on this portion of I-80 until conditions improve.
In addition, surrounding roadways including I-380 and U.S. 218 are experiencing significant drifting which may make them difficult or impossible to travel on as the night progresses.
Motorists are urged to evaluate the need to travel in extreme conditions. If you must travel, be sure to monitor road conditions and Iowa DOT snowplow locations at www.511ia.org.
