Iowa Transportation Commission approves Iowa's Clean Air Attainment Program funding
Ames, Iowa – Jan. 9, 2024 – Today, the Iowa Transportation Commission approved $4 million in total funding for four projects from the Iowa's Clean Air Attainment Program. The program was created in 1994 for the purpose of reducing transportation-related congestion and air pollution. This funding is available to cities, counties, transit agencies, metropolitan planning organizations, regional planning affiliations, state agencies, and nonprofit organizations through an annual application-based program.
The projects and approved funding amounts are listed below.
- North Ankeny Boulevard/U.S. 69 Improvements from 1st Street to 11th Street (Ankeny) - $1,662,000
- Smart Traffic Routing with Efficient and Effective Traffic Signals (STREETS) Phase 2 (Dubuque) - $1,100,000
- Traffic Signal System Improvements (Polk County) - $506,000
- Traffic System Vehicle Detection Improvement Phase 3 (West Des Moines) - $732,000
