Lane closures on the U.S. 218 bridge over Mud Creek in Black Hawk County begin on Wednesday, March 27

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – March 20, 2024 – If you drive on the U.S. 218 bridge over Mud Creek, 0.9 miles north of Black Hawk County Road D-46, you need to be aware of a bridge replacement project that may impact your trip.

Beginning on Wednesday, March 27, until early October, weather permitting, crews will work on replacing the bridge in two stages. One lane of traffic will always be maintained using temporary traffic signals. Larger vehicles will be directed to use alternate routes in advance of the work zone through signage as lane-width restrictions will be in place.

For more information about this and other Iowa DOT construction projects in Black Hawk and Bremer counties, follow the Black Hawk and Bremer County Construction Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BlackHawkBremerCo#!BlackHawkBremerCo.

Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
