Southbound U.S. 71 from Lake Street to Benit Drive in Arnolds Park to close on Tuesday, April 2

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – March 26, 2024 – If you drive on southbound U.S. 71 in Arnolds Park you need to be aware of an upcoming construction project that may impact your trip.

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, until Thursday, May 23, weather permitting, the road will be closed from Lake Street to Benit Drive as crews work to reconstruct the road, according to the Iowa DOT District 3 Office.

During this phase of the reconstruction project, you will be shifted in a head-to-head traffic pattern in the open lanes of U.S. 71.

You can learn more about the Lakes 71 project on the Iowa DOT’s website at https://iowadot.gov/lakes71/Home.

Help keep everyone on the road safer. Drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, you should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
