Nighttime closures of the intersection of U.S. 69/Lincoln Way and South Duff Avenue in Ames scheduled to begin on Tuesday, July 30

JEFFERSON, Iowa – July 29, 2024 – If you travel near the intersection of U.S. 69/Lincoln Way and South Duff Avenue in Ames you need to be aware of upcoming nighttime road closures that could affect your trip.

Beginning on Tuesday night, July 30, until Wednesday, Aug. 7, weather permitting, nighttime closures will occur weeknights from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m., so crews can work on milling and hot-mix asphalt paving.

While the intersection is closed you will follow a marked detour route using East 2nd Street, Des Moines Avenue, East Lincoln Way, Sumner Avenue, SE 2nd Street, South 2nd Street, and South Sherman Avenue (see map).

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
