Two Information Open House Meetings for the Decatur Bridge Project Rescheduled for Aug. 28 and 29
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Aug. 8, 2024 – Tell us what you think about the proposed Decatur Bridge project, which would improve the Nebraska Highway 51 (N-51) / Iowa Highway 175 (Iowa 175) Missouri River crossing in Burt County, Nebraska and Monona County, Iowa. These public meetings were previously scheduled for June 26 and June 27, but were postponed due to flooding in the area.
The proposed project would provide a resilient river crossing connecting Decatur, Nebraska/
N-51, and Onawa, Iowa/Iowa 175. Some of the benefits of this resiliency include:
- Maintaining access to regional commerce, employment, education, health care, and recreation facilities.
- Maintaining accessibility to and by emergency services.
- Providing infrastructure to support current and future travel demand.
- Maintaining connectivity.
- Improving the infrastructure condition and resiliency against flooding.
The Decatur Bridge project planning and design would occur over three phases and multiple years. Construction would be dependent on available funding but could begin as early as 2029.
