Nighttime lane closures on I-35 and I-80 in Polk County scheduled for Sept. 25
GRIMES, Iowa – Sept. 20, 2024 – If you drive near the Interstate 35/I-80/I-235 northeast mix master you need to be aware of upcoming nighttime construction work that may impact your trip according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office.
Beginning at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, weather permitting, crews will close eastbound I-35/80 at U.S. 69/Northeast 14th Street and the ramp from southbound I-35 to westbound I-80. These ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26.
When lanes are closed and work is taking place, you will follow a marked detour route. For the eastbound I-35/80 closure you will go south on Northeast 14th Street, east on Euclid Avenue, and get back on at I-235 (see map). For the southbound I-35 to I-80 westbound ramp closure, you will go south on I-235 and get off at Euclid Avenue and come back north to travel west at the I-35/I-80/I-235 systems interchange (see map).
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
