Ramp closures on I-29 at Iowa 141 (Sloan Exit 127) begin Monday, Sept. 23
Sioux City, Iowa – Sept. 16, 2024 – If you travel on Interstate 29 near Iowa 141 (Sloan Exit 127) you need to be aware of an upcoming ramp paving project that may slow down your trip, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Sioux City construction office.
The I-29 southbound off-ramp and I-29 northbound on-ramp at Iowa 141 (Sloan Exit 127) will be closed beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23. The ramps will reopen Friday, Oct. 18, at 5 p.m., weather permitting.
During the closures, oversize loads will not be permitted through the cities of Salix or Sloan and the following marked detours will be in place:
- Southbound Detour: Traffic will be directed to Exit 134 (Salix—Poplar Street/275th Street), then routed to K45/Old Hwy 75, and back to IA 141 (Sloan).
- Northbound Detour: Traffic will follow IA 141 (Sloan) to K45/Old Hwy 75, leading to Salix—Poplar Street/275th Street.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
