Ramp closures on I-35/80 at Douglas Avenue in Polk County begin on Monday, Sept. 16
Des Moines, Iowa – Sept. 6, 2024 – If you travel on Interstate 35/80 near Douglas Avenue you need to be aware of an upcoming construction project that may slow down your trip, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office.
Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16 until Wednesday, Oct. 16, weather permitting, crews will close the northbound entrance ramp and northbound entrance loop from Douglas Avenue to I-35/80 so the northbound pavement from south of Douglas Avenue north to Meredith Drive can be widened.
While the ramps are closed you will follow a marked detour route and travel east on Douglas Avenue and then north on Northwest Urbandale Drive to reach I-35/80 (see map).
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
