Temporary closure of Maple Street access into Janesville begins on Sept. 16

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Sept. 9, 2024 – If you drive on U.S. 218 between Janesville and Waverly in Bremer County you need to be aware of an upcoming closure at the Maple Street access to Janesville that may slow down your trip.

Beginning on Monday, Sept. 16, until late November, weather permitting, crews will close the Maple Street access into Janesville so work can be done on a relocated Maple Street access connecting to 260th Street north of Janesville.

There will be no marked detour route for this closure.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
