MASON CITY, Iowa – Sept. 27, 2024 – If you drive on U.S. 69 just south of U.S. 18 in Garner you need to be aware of an upcoming road closure that may slow down your trip.
Crews need to close U.S. 69 at the CPKC railroad crossing in Garner on Monday, Sept. 30 until Saturday, Oct. 5, weather permitting, so crews can make repairs to the crossing.
While the road is closed you will follow a marked detour route by driving east on Lyon Street to Seymour Avenue, north on Seymour Avenue to U.S. 18, then west on U.S. 18 to U.S. 69.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
