Bridge Repair Project at the Southwest Mixmaster in West Des Moines starts on Oct. 3
GRIMES, Iowa – Oct. 1, 2024 – Construction work to repair the bridge on the ramp from eastbound Interstate 80 to northbound I-35 at the southwest mixmaster will affect traffic multiple times starting on Thursday, Oct. 3, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes Construction office.
This project will impact traffic multiple times over the next two months including total closures and single-lane closures that will occur at night. When closures are in place, you will follow a marked detour route south on I-35 to Mills Civic Parkway (exit 70), and then back north on I-35.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
