Intermittent lane closures on Iowa 9 and U.S. 218 in Osage begin on Tuesday, March 11

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – March 10, 2025 – If you drive on Iowa 9 and U.S. 218 in Osage you need to be aware intermittent lane closures that may slow down your trip.

Beginning on Tuesday, March 11, until late October, weather permitting, crews will be working on hot-mix asphalt resurfacing and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant sidewalks. As you drive through the work zone you should expect the following:

  • Intermittent lane closures on four-lane sections of the roadway
  • Intermittent lane closures on two-lane sections of the roadway with flaggers assisting you through the work zone.
  • Intermittent side street closures within the work zone

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
