Project description
The Iowa Department of Transportation is requesting public input on the proposed replacement of the existing culverts on Iowa Highway 5 just south of Monroe County Road T-19, and the project detour in Monroe County. The culvert project will replace the existing reinforced concrete box culverts with a 30-inch reinforced concrete pipe, regrade the east and west foreslopes, and include erosion control.
Construction is expected to occur during the 2021 construction season.
Through traffic on Iowa 5 would be detoured during construction using U.S. 34, Iowa 14, and Iowa 92. Except for the lanes crossing the culvert just south of Monroe County Road T-19, (near Iowa 5 mile marker 42.88) local traffic will have access to Iowa 5 during the planned closure.
