Public Involvement Projects

Interstate 35, Warren County

About the Project

Project description

The Iowa Department of Transportation is providing public notice and requesting public input on proposed improvements and right of way needs to Interstate 35 southbound lanes from north of Iowa 92 to south of the North River in Warren County.

The proposed improvements include reconstruction of the southbound I-35 lanes, improvements to existing pipe culverts, and removing and replacing the overhead Hoover Street bridge. This project is a continuation of the I-35 corridor projects in Warren County. This project connects work already completed at the Iowa 92 interchange and North River bridge. The project is anticipated to take place during the 2023 construction season.

I-35 traffic will be maintained on the existing southbound lanes while the proposed lanes are constructed. Crossovers are in place at both the north and south ends of the project to maintain traffic. Once the proposed lanes are constructed, traffic will be moved to the new southbound lanes, and the existing southbound lanes and crossovers will be removed.

Hoover Street will be closed to traffic during construction. There will be limited, overnight closures of I-35 to remove the existing Hoover Street bridge and set beams for the proposed new bridge. During the limited, overnight closure of I-35, motorists will be directed around the work zone onto the signed detour route (see below).
