Tell us what you think about a proposed roundabout at the intersection of Iowa 3 and Iowa 143 near Marcus in Cherokee county

The Iowa Department of Transportation is requesting your input on a for a proposed roundabout at the intersection of Iowa 3 and Iowa 143 near Marcus in Cherokee county.

Iowa 3 traffic will be maintained by staging construction for most of the project. It is anticipated that Iowa 3 east of Iowa 143 will need to be detoured during the final stage of construction. The proposed detour for this stage would be Cherokee County roads L-36, C-38, and L-40.

For part of construction, Iowa 143 and Cherokee County road L-36 will be detoured. When Iowa 143 is closed, traffic is proposed to be detoured on Cherokee County roads L-22, C-16, and L-40. When Cherokee County road L-36 is closed traffic is proposed to be detoured on Cherokee County roads L-22, C-38, and L-40. Construction is expected to begin in spring of 2026 and end in early fall of 2026.
