Ames Transit Agency to receive more than $3.6 million
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has awarded a $3,688,000 grant to the Ames Transit Agency.
According to the U.S. DOT, the funds will be used to replace 10 40-foot heavy-duty biodiesel buses ($3,528,000) and purchase new scheduling-operations software ($160,000). The project was selected on a competitive basis from the State of Good Repair Program.
The FTA administers grants totaling more than $10 billion annually to support a variety of locally planned, constructed and operated public transportation systems throughout the United States. Transportation systems typically include buses, subways, light rail, commuter rail, streetcars, monorail, passenger ferry boats and inclined railways.
